Entries- Hogs
• Entry fees for all entries must accompany the respective entry form.
• Entry fees will be as follows; Entries postmarked or delivered to Farmers Cooperative in
Frederick, Maryland by April 2nd, 2010 - fees will be $10 per entry animal.
• Entries postmarked or delivered to Farmers Cooperative in Frederick, Maryland after
April 2nd, 2010 (including day of show & sale) - $15 per entry animal. Animals will not be
accepted at show & sale without entry form and payment on file or in hand. All entry fees
are non-refundable. Entry fees may be paid by cash, check or credit card. Payment may
be made the morning of the show & sale, but must be paid prior to check-in. DO NOT
MAIL CASH.
• All pig entries must be in place by 8:00am on the day of the Show, Saturday, April 10th.
• All pigs selected for the respective sales (female and male) must be offered for sale.
• The 2010 Elite East will be a sifted show. Animals sifted during the show will not be eligible for the sale. The Judge’s decision is final. Any conflicts with rules will be dealt
with on a case by case basis.
• Checks will be mailed within 21 business days. A five percent (5%) sellers premium will
be deducted from the selling price after the sale. All pig sales will incur this premium. Pig sales will be paid for by cash or check the day of the sale. No credit cards or FCA charge accounts can be used for payment for pigs purchased.
• Pigs are not to be loaded until the sale is complete, and proper documentation of payment is presented.
• The Elite East Show & Sale, by way of Farmers Cooperative Association, Inc., will be
responsible for obtaining buyers for pigs being shown at this event.
• Breeders are also welcome to invite buyers to attend.
Rules- Hogs
• *No clipping the day of the event.*
• Should weigh between 40 and 70 pounds (not required).
• Should be born between January 1, 2010 - March 12, 2010.
• All purebred pigs that show in the purebred class must have a pedigree that
accompanies each entry. Breeders will be responsible for providing pedigrees on the day of the sale or transferring them within a timely manner as to avoid nnecessary fees.
• Entries are open to all swine breeds and all crossbreds. Classes will be divided by breed, sex, and age.
• There is no limit to pigs (barrows, boars or gilts) per exhibitor.
• Castrated males must be completely healed.
* Maryland has rescinded the no clipping rule. Breeders will be allowed to clip pigs this
year, but we request that they not be clipped the day of the event.
Health Regulations- Hogs
• All animals entering the Frederick County Fairgrounds must meet these health
regulations:
• All swine entries (out of state) must be accompanied by an official transport copy of an
interstate Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. CVI required- must be written by an
accredited vet 30 days of entry into MD and must include ear tag or ear notch, tattoo
number, description of animals, and the date shipped. Test results must also be included
on the CVI. The interstate (CVI) is only valid for 30 days from the date of issuance. All out
of state breeders must obtain a permit number. Permit numbers can be obtained by
calling (410) 841-5810 at least 10 days prior to the Elite East Show & Sale.
A) In state entries have to have intrastate papers.
• Each swine must be identified individually by ear notch. Swine can be tagged but it must
be healed before show.
• All animals will be inspected for general health upon presentation. Those showing clinical
signs of ANY contagious or infectious disease must be removed from the Show, and
Fairgrounds. In such cases the health certificate may be modified, suspended or
revolved.
• Where immunization is recommended or required it must be done in conformity with
standard procedures and practices consistent with the development of immunity PRIOR
to entering Fairgrounds.
• All animals must be vaccinated for 6-way Lepto (brastislava included) with vacation date
listed.
• All pigs must be vaccinated for circovirus. This is a sale requirement.
• Pseudorabies testing is required for all animals regardless of age- Must be Pseudorabies
test negative with 30 days. Or if they come from a Pseudorabies Qualified Negative
Herd, they are qualified to come in without testing. Breeding herds in a Stage IV or V
state are considered to be the equivalent of a Qualified Negative Herd, thus breeding
swine may enter from Stage IV or V state without testing. (Maryland is a stage V state) |

Rules- Lambs

• Lambs should be born after January 1, 2010
• Entries are open to all lamb breeds and crossbreds
• Limit 6 lambs per exhibitor
• Castrated males must be completely healed
• Scrapie Tags MUST be in the ear of every sheep consigned
• All entries must be slick sheared above the knees and hocks prior to the sale
• Non Sale entered sheep are not allowed in the barns
Sale Guarantee- Lambs
• All guarantees shall constitute a contract between the buyer and seller only, and no other
parties assume any liability, legal or otherwise, expressed or implied.
• Neither the Sale Managers nor the Sale Committee can or will assume any responsibility
as to the authenticity of the pedigrees, bloodline or DNA information provided by the
consignor, or otherwise, and the subsequent genetic performance of any sheep purchased. All such information must be accepted at face value. Any special guarantees
or claims offered by individual consignors is strictly between the consignor and buyer, and will not be enforced by the sale management or committee.
• The number of sheep selling will be determined after the sift is complete.
• Farmers Cooperative Sale Committee and Management reserve the right to refuse any entries for failure to comply with any of the rules of the sale.
Health- Lambs
• Health Regulations: All sheep must have health certificate upon arrival at the fairgrounds
- no exceptions! Health Certificate must have been issued within 30 days of the sale and
all Scrapie Identification must be noted on certificate.
• All Lambs have been vaccinated with CD&T and wormed.
• Wethers: All wethers must have their testicles and scrotum removed.
Sale Format- Lambs
• Sale will be a Board Auction, silent bids submitted by bid stubs, no Auctioneer
• All animals will have a base price starting at $125
• Bids open at 1 and will close at 4
• Buyers may bid at the base price, or raise the bid on the animal of their choice
• Minimum bid increments of $25. Bids will be placed on the board in the order they are received
• Bidders must watch the board, when a bid is raised, a new buyer number and higher bid
will be placed on the board
• Note: We give ample time for bids, but we do push to promptly close the higher selling
animals
• Payment must be made promptly after the sale, cash or good check
• Ask about delivery arrangements if needed. Animals should be removed at the close of
the sale, unless prior arrangements are made |
